Each year NEKF donates the proceeds from the striper shoot above and beyond operating expenses to deserving charities. This tradition has allowed us to donate over $30 thousand dollars over the years to our chosen charities. The NEKF mission is not only to provide information about kayak fishing, but also to support the community as a whole. In 2013, NEKF donated $2,000 each to three charities: Boys & Girls Club of Greater Salem, Casting for Recovery, and Sophia's Fund.

Here are some of the charities we help support:

BnG Salem   casting for recovery
Boys & Girls Club of Greater Salem—The Salem Boys and Girls club is the second oldest in the United States. It offers a community and safe place to go for local children. They offer sports and day care programs that get kids involved in positive activities.   Casting for Recovery-is an organization that provides free support and educational retreats for women in any states of breast cancer. The organization provides physical and emotional support through its fly fishing retreats.

heroes on the water   sophias fund
Heroes on the Water serves our Nation's wounded veterans by providing healing and rehabilitating kayak fishing outings that are physically and mentally therapeutic through a nationwide community of volunteers and donors.   Sophia's Fund—is an all-volunteer non-profit group that supports the families of children with pediatric cancer. The organization provides financial support to families in need.
