Any one use one?? Looking at a more contoured baitcasting reel than the round style I have.

I just got one for a new spiral wrap rod I built. I absolutely love this thing and have have the older 300-DSV which is an awesome reel as well.

You will not regret it Will!

I got mine here:

http://www.baitnhook.net/shimanocurado3 ... greel.aspx

for $219.00 and it was here in less than a week. I added 500 yard of Power-Pro which enabled me to take advantage of the free shipping so it was a good deal.

I picked one up this winter. I love it. It took a little time to use and a few adjustments with the brakes etc but its not bad. Too bad I havent fished at all this June with a new house and less than 2 months until the new baby its been rough!!!!! I did get thel eft hand reel.

Love my 201D.
300 & 301 E's available thru ebay stores for @ $203 included shipping.

The D series are quite a bit heavier than the new E series due to size and the D's are all metal. E's have graphite.

I got the 300E last week and was using over the weekend. I really like the reel but I was having trouble with the braid line.

after a few casts, the line tend to tangles and it took me half an hour to untangle it. I have to cut the line to untangled. it was so frustating, I don't know what I did wrong.

I am thinking refill it with 25 lbs mono line. I match the reel with st. croix rod. it is very very nice reel.. Very smooth...

try adjusting the tension knob so that when in free spool ithe lure barely falls on its own and then work from there. itf the knob is to lose youll get major backlashes until you get the hang of it. I had a few bad experiances ealry on until i got the hang of it.

ROOKIE, read the VBS / Friction Adjustment section of the manual, and adjust your reel accordingly.

My VBS setting looks exactly like the illustration on the manual; 3 up, 3 down.
