Bait Question...Is there Plenty Around or res required ?????

Postby Sully60 » Mon Aug 15, 2011 7:22 pm

I'm going to Winter Is. Wed & camp with Mama 2 days before Shoot out, Is my best bet to go to Al's Bait Shop Fri for worms & eels? I brought them with me the past 2yrs on a Friday arrival...Thanks...Sully60

I also have a question for all you eelers out there. Being that I live 2 hours from the ocean and only fish live eels when I can catch a bait shop on the way to go night fishing, then I keep 2 or 3 on ice for the evening. What do you have to do to keep them alive for a day or two? Or should I buy a few for Friday Night and then go get a few more for Saturday Night.

Eels will stay alive if you keep them in ice. Just make sure you use the two bucket system so the water from the melted ice drains out. Or you can keep them in a bucket of water if you have a battery powered aerator blowing bubbles in it.

Yes, that is your best bet Sully.

As for the eels, the master has spoken...
I recommend the two bucket system, if you keep the ice in there they will be fine for up to a week....I actually employ the three bucket system, which is having another bucket of ice on top with the eels inbetween, so the melted ice kind of rains down on them, less likely that they will drown in their own slime this way...

Would gulp alive be considered "bait"? I only as as if someone were trolling a T&W and using gulp alive sandworms would that be artificial only?

I'm in the open division. I plan to take pictures of everything that looks like a fish and maybe some scenic stuff.
