Last day of the season success

**WARNING*** If you are an anti-hunting, vegetarian, crusty, green, tofu eater, don't read anymore of this report.
I haven't had a chance to get out all season but I've been seeing the turkeys and know where they are. Finally had a chance to get out this morn after seeing that the wind was going to blow 15 to 20 and decided not to yak fish. Reports all season have been of unresponsive and henned-up birds. Got to my spot and just sat and listened for over an hour. I heard another calling in the distance and there were no toms answering him. Decided to take a slow walk down into the valley where I've been seeing them. I came up over a knob and saw a couple toms strutting around a hen. Let out a couple soft yelps and they looked my way for a few seconds and then ignored me. I knew I wasn't calling them away from the real deal. I watched which way they were walking and knew they were heading to the field. I used the terrain to stay out of their vision and snuck up ahead of them to cut them off. Sure enough within 30 seconds a hen walked by me at 20 yards. I knew tommy would be showing up shortly. Had the gun up aiming at the opening for what seemed like 20 minutes. Finally old red head came into my opening and I let him have it! Nice bird, 18lbs. with a 9 and a half inch beard. Marinating in the fridge right now!

Yesterday my cat had a stare down with a big tom in the back yard. It was pretty amusing to watch.

About and hour ago I walked out on my deck and he was perched right on my railing. I didn't notice until I was 1/2 way out the door and scared the living sh!t out of me when he took off.

nice bird Mark!

I fished Manch area yesterday and caught a couple eating sized stripers. Saw some NEKFers there and one told me heard turkeys gobbling at dawn at the launch. Last nights supper for my family was striped bass, wild turkey, mashed potatos and gravy. Awesome!
