King Kong's cousin on the ground

Postby turtlecrossings » Tue Dec 14, 2010 11:01 am

I got up this morning went outside into cold and wind and started thinking about not going to a stand but I told Markn that i would so i got dressed and was a little late but met up with him at the spot. Off we go to our stands. I climb into mine and dam i forgot to put my bombs out so i climb back down and put them out now i am ready. It is cold and windy when i hear something to my right so i slowly move my head that way and see nothing so i slowly turn my head back and i catch movement out of my left eye and sure enough it is a deer a doe or a buck i don't know it is walking in the thick white pines all i can see is the lower part of the body so i get ready gun up eyes on the animal and it keeps walking left to right almost right in front of me and then it decides to come out and OMG it has a big rack and now i start whispering to myself its a monster. so anyway buck fever sets in and he is still walking very slowly to my right but on a slight angle to me so now i put the red dot on him and he turns right at me walking right to me at maybe 30 yards and getting closer so now i am thinking about shooting him in the chest which i don't want to do and at 20 yards or so he turns brood side to me but by me to i have to turn in the stand and it creeks and he stops looks up and keeps going and i drill him he bounds away and stops shakes his head bounds two more times stops starts to stager and plop he is down. meanwhile Markn is calling me on the radio with no response cause mine is off. I call him on the phone and not able to talk i tell him i just drilled king kongs brother the rest is history 167lbs eight point buck WOOOOOOHOOOOOO

Big props to the Turtle! He's had a rough season and he was getting down in the dumps. I told him that all it takes is that one second and your season goes from sucky to awesome. Well he's been putting his time in and hanging tough.(Although a couple mornings he's called me after about 45 minutes to say he's freezing and he's going for a coffee  ) Well. he was rewarded big time this morning! He got his personal best buck at 15 yards out of a treestand with a blackpowder gun. AWESOME man!

Great looking pictures and it looks like Gary could go from hunting to fishing the way he's dressed...
