Ideal Kayak Rod

Hello all,

What is your ideal kayak fishing rod? On the west coast we all use 7' minimum rods, but I hear rods tend to be a little shorter and a little more stout up in your areas.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Personal preference really. I like 7 footers, weight and action depends on what I want to do with it. The big thing I look for is a rod with a short butt.

For me it depends on the length of the kayak. I like a length that I can easily clear the bow and stern of my kayak. 7 ft seems to be the magic number to clear my revolution and other kayaks I have paddled.

Like Mark said, action and power depends on the type of fishing. For rods with a short butt, I been tempted to shorten the butt of some of my surf rods.

one that catches fish thats the important thing. call me crazy but the best rod made is no good unless it catches fish.had a cheap wally world combo before caught more fish on that rat pole than any pole i own now.
