Shimano problem

Postby Sparky74 » Mon Jun 18, 2012 1:56 pm

Went to use my Curado 301 this morning and found the thumbar would stick and not let the spool re-engage. Screwed with it for a few minutes on the water this morning to no avail. When I got home and unloaded I tried it again and it works fine. I've had the same problem with my Cardiff 301 but it has since been placed on the DL until I can get it fixed.

The Cardiff has been through 2 1/2 seasons of tough use so no surprise there. The Curado has about 6-7 trips in it. Any one else have this problem and know what the fix is? Searched it online but it's all greek to me.

sparky,
i've had the same problem, on and off, with my curado 301e this year.
this is my 3rd year with it and i use it in both fresh & salt.
not sure what the solution is, but will take somewhere for servicing this winter.
it usually works it's way out after a bit each time.
good luck,
bob

this has happened to me a few times. WD40 or banging it on the side of the yak usually works, but it is a sign that you need a good cleaning.

if it keeps happening, send it back and they will fix it or send you a new reel. If this is a new reel, send it back. I sent one back that had this issue after 3 uses and tehy sent me a new reel. Shimano is A+ on service.

I've pretty much had the same experience with both the WD40 and their customer service.

Not sure on Shimano policies. I'll look into it. The reel is brand new but I'm not the original buyer.
